domm's talk: "die, Perl, die!"
Also at the Vienna.pm meeting on June 2nd, domm gave a talk on exception handling: die, Perl, die!. Jonathan Worthington also gave a very interesting talk about Rakudo, but he hasn't made the slides available yet. I'll link to them when they are available.
Vienna.pm TechSocialMeetings happen on the first monday of each month. We usually meet in a meeting room of the IT services department of the Vienna University, where I work. The talks start at 7pm and last until 8.30pm or until the last talk has finished. There is no fixed schedule; everyone who wants to talk can give a talk. Afterwards we go for drinks.

"Perl in Japan" slides
Tonight was a Vienna.pm TechSocialMeeting. First domm talked about exception handling, then Jonathan Worthington, who now lives in Bratislava, one hour away from Vienna, gave a talk about Rakudo, then it was my turn to talk about the japanese Perl community: who they are, how they work, what they do. It contains impressions I brought back from YAPC::Asia 2008. Too many people don't know anything about asian perl mongers. That's a shame because there are some really interesting developments going on there. I've also briefly talked about Perl in Korea; there seems to be a small but intense community and I hope to find out more.
Here are the slides from the talk — if the embedded slideshow doesn't work for you, you can find them on SlideShare.
